When a tenant has paid more than is due for their rent the whole amount should be recorded in the deposit. After posting the deposit a credit (CR) will remain in Receivables that can be applied to next month's rent.
To post the overpayment
- Go to the Receivables page
- Select the line for the outstanding amount that needs to be deposited
- Click deposit
- In the amount field enter the total amount paid by the tenant
- Click post
